

Oscar nominations were released early this morning (5:38 a.m.!) by Academy President Tom Sherak and Anne Hathaway at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills. "The Hurt Locker" and "Avatar" led all films with 9 nominations each. Both are up for the Best-Film award which has 10 movies nominated in the category. The last time 10 flicks were nominated for the Best Film trophy was in 1943- Casablanca the winner. Meryl Streep is up for her 16th nomination (Best Actress, "Julie & Julia"), the most nominations by any actor/actress while Sandra Bullock gained her first ever nod (Best Actress, "The Blind Side").
